DOT evaluates Southern Mindoro as Tourism Destination

An assessment of potential tourism sites in South Mindoro Island was conducted last December 09 – 11, 2022 by the Department of Tourism MIMAROPA regional office together with representatives from NEDA, TIEZA, DA-BFAR, DOST, DPWH, DSWD, TESDA, DTI, NCCA, and the Local Government of the Provinces of Palawan and Marinduque.

Sites included in the assessment are the Brgy. Panaytayan Mangyan Community, Oriental Mindoro Heritage and Cultural Center and weaving site in Brgy. Manul in the Municipality of Mansalay; Pocanil Beach Resort, Buyayao Island and Rich Sea Seaweed Processing Center in Brgy. Balatasan in the Municipality of Bulalacao, Oriental Mindoro; the Devil’s Mountain, and Mangyan Communities in Brgy. Monteclaro and Brgy. Naibuan in San Jose, Occidental Mindoro.

Simultaneously, a site assessment workshop was held in San Jose, Occidental Mindoro. In attendance were the Municipality’s Mayor Rey Ladaga, Vice Mayor Santiago “Sonny” Javier and DTI MIMAROPA Regional Director Joel Valera.
