To ensure the delivery of quality education in Oriental Mindoro, the Provincial School Board (PSB) of the Provincial Government of Oriental Mindoro (PGOM) provided armchairs, books, sets of IT equipment and other forms of assistance to the public schools in the province.
As promised by Governor Humerlito ‘Bonz’ A. Dolor that every pupil would have his/her own chair in school, 11,220 armchairs were handed over to 230 schools for this school year. With the increasing number of pupils/students every year, more chairs will be provided by PSB this coming school year. This will be based on the requests coursed through the Department of Education, Division of Oriental Mindoro (DepEd OrMin).
On the other hand, 15,438 books were distributed to the 79 secondary schools and 18 districts from Bulalacao to Puerto Galera, making said reading materials accessible to pupils/students in all the schools in the whole Division. 30 schools also received laptops and LCD projectors with screens while five (5) districts each got laptop, projector, printer and camera for their respective Alternative Learning System (ALS) centers.
The PSB likewise released counterpart funding of PhP300,000.00 for ALS and PhP500,000.00 for the titling of school sites in DepEd OrMin. Ten (10) students received financial assistance for the conduct and/or presentation of their research papers.
For 2020, PSB under the chairmanship of Gov. Bonz Dolor is gearing up for the provision of more assistance to schools this coming school year.
