Severe Winds
The wind signals warn the public of the general wind threat over an area due to the tropical cyclone. Local winds may be slightly stronger/enhanced in coastal and upland/mountainous areas exposed to winds. Winds are less strong in areas sheltered from the prevailing wind direction.
• Minimal to minor impacts from strong winds are possible within any of the areas under Wind Signal No. 1.
Should there be a significant westward shift in the forecast track, Wind Signal No.2 may be hoisted in some localities of Babuyan Islands and Batanes. However, this scenario is becoming less likely as FRANCISCO is now moving a more northwestward track.
The Southwest Monsoon and the periphery of FRANCISCO will bring strong to gale-force gusts over the following areas (especially in coastal and upland areas exposed to winds):
• Today: Most of Luzon, Visayas, Zamboanga Peninsula, Northern Mindanao, Surigao del Norte, Dinagat Islands, Davao Occidental, and Davao Oriental.
• Tomorrow (24 June): Most of Luzon, Visayas, Misamis Occidental, Lanao del Norte, Camiguin, Dinagat Islands, Davao Occidental, and Davao Oriental.
