11 June 2026, Victoria – The Provincial Government of Oriental Mindoro (PGOM) opened a new accessible route for vehicles in Victoria following the inauguration of Bambanin-Merit Circumferential Road.
Governor Humerlito “Bonz” Dolor, along with First Lady Hiyas Govinda Ramos Dolor and Vice Governor Antonio S. Perez, Jr. led the ribbon-cutting ceremony of said project.
Motorists and commuters are now expected to benefit from safer travels and eased traffic, as the road provides an alternative route between Brgy. Bambanin and Brgy. Merit.
Moreover, said project is set to boost the local trade and create new economic opportunities for residents through the provision of an alternative access road for the transportation of local products.
Beyond transportation, Bambanin-Merit Circumferential Road is also seen as a key component for local tourism development as the primary access route to the Bambanin-Merit Esplanade, one of the four major infrastructure under PGOM’s ‘Tourism Development Project’.
Meanwhile, Rev. Fr. Andres Isagani S. Lolo led the blessing of said road and offered prayers for the safety and protection of those who will use this road.
Sangguniang Panlalawigan Board Members Atty. Roland Ruga, Ryan Arago and Ronalee Leachon, Victoria Mayor Richard Inciong alongside members of the Sangguniang Bayan and Municipal employees, Pola Mayor Inah Alegre, Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) First District Assistant Engineer Albien M. Mahia, PGOM department heads and employees, staff from the Philippine National Police (PNP), and personnel from the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) witnessed said event.
The Provincial Tourism Office headed by Provincial Tourism Officer Dhon Stepherson Calda facilitated the program.
