02 June 2026, Calapan City – Department of Health (DOH) Secretary Teodoro “Ted” J. Herbosa personally inspected over four (4) hectares of land intended for the construction of the new Regional Hospital in Brgy. Ilaya of this city.
His visit carried hope for the realization of enhanced healthcare services in Oriental Mindoro and the broader MIMAROPA region, reinforcing the government’s commitment to improve public health infrastructure.
During the inspection, Provincial Administrator Atty. Earl Ligorio R. Turano II and staff from the Provincial Engineering Office (PEO) presented to Sec. Herbosa the comprehensive plan for the establishment of said project.
An initial fund amounting to ₱100M has already been allocated for the project that includes ₱50M from the Local Government Support Fund (LGSF) of the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) and ₱50M from the Provincial Government.
The new Regional Hospital will serve as a central healthcare facility, providing specialized medical services to patients across the region.
