Tourist arrivals in Puerto Galera, a popular beach destination in the country, continue to rise, already surpassing pre-pandemic levels, contrary to earlier expectations of a slowdown amid global economic and geopolitical pressures, a local official said.
Vice Mayor Rocky D. Ilagan said the steady growth in visitor arrivals shows that Puerto Galera has remained resilient despite concerns over the ongoing crisis in the Middle East and the impact of rising fuel prices.
Data from the Municipal Tourism Office showed that around 250,000 tourists arrived from January to April 2026 alone, including about 58,000 visitors recorded in April. | via Ace Sapit/PIA
