Pandang Gitab Oriental Mindoro illuminates the province anew

5 May 2026, Pinamalayan – Oriental Mindoro once again glowed with colorful flickering lights as streets came vibrant during the Pandang Gitab Oriental Mindoro: The Festival of Lights on 30 April.

Participants showcased creative costumes inspired by the flora and fauna of Mount Halcon, highlighting both artistry and cultural pride that elevated the spirit of the celebration.

More than a display of lights, the festival serves as a thanksgiving celebration of the people of Oriental Mindoro.

Among the 10 competing delegates this year, the Silay Bahagsubay Dance Company from Pinamalayan emerged as the champion. 

The group received a total cash prize of Php 750,000 and an additional Php 50,000 for being hailed as Best in Choreography.

Tribu Rayaw from Gloria placed second, winning Php 500,000 and the Best in Lighted Production Design award with an additional Php 50,000.

Arcus Luminis from Pinamalayan claimed third place, taking home Php 300,000.

Meanwhile, Indak-PAGANAHIS from Puerto Galera was recognized as the Most Disciplined Contingent, receiving Php 35,000.

Indak Pastores from Victoria was awarded Best in Unity Dance Presentation, earning Php 50,000.

Provincial Government of Oriental Mindoro (PGOM) also increased the participation incentives from Php 30,000 to Php 50,000 per contingent, and granted Php 3,000 to each participant and Php 10,000 to each choreographer.

Pandang Gitab 2026 was organized by the Provincial Tourism Office led  by Stepherson Calda and in coordination with the Local Government of Pinamalayan.
