TRANSCEND to promote sustainable growth for OrMin.

19 March 2026, Calapan City – Oriental Mindoro is expected to transform into a climate-resilient, low-carbon, and biodiversity-friendly province through the Transformative Actions for Climate and Ecological Protection and Development (TRANSCEND) project.

As a collaborative initiative between the Philippines and the Federal Republic of Germany through the International Climate Initiative (IKI), TRANSCEND is set to enhance the ecological resiliency of the province through improved environmental planning and strengthened policy implementation.

Vice Governor Antonio S. Perez, Jr., representing Governor Humerlito A. Dolor and the Provincial Government of Oriental Mindoro, formally accepted the Letter of Coordination for said project during the Luzon Partners’ Forum and Landscape Workshop last 17 March 2026 at Balai Mindoro, Bayanan I, Calapan City.

Said initiative marked a formal alliance between the Provincial Government and the consortium of international organizations such as the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ)GmbH, Conservation International Philippines Foundation Inc. (CIPFI), RARE, United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat), and United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO).

VG Perez reaffirmed the commitment of PGOM and the Sangguniang Panlalawigan to ecological preservation through a long-standing mining moratorium that safeguards the natural resources and livelihoods of Mindoreños. 

Mansalay Mayor Ferdinand Maliwanag, representatives from the Provincial Agriculturist’s Office (PAgO), Provincial Planning and Development Office (PPDO), Provincial Cooperative Development Office (PCDO), National Government Agencies, and other stakeholders supported said event.
