05 March 2026, Calapan City — Intellectual property measures can grant legal protection to Oriental Mindoro products and exclusive rights of ownership to inventors, producers, and entrepreneurs in the province.

Intellectual Property Office of the Philippines (IPOPHL) Marketing and Communications Division Information Officer Emmelina Masanque emphasized this important concept during the three-day ‘Raise the Economy by Acquiring Protection (REAP): Intellectual Property Awareness Seminar’ from 3-5 March at the Tamaraw Hall, Provincial Capitol.

Through a partnership between the Provincial Cooperative and Development Office (PCDO) headed by PGDH-PCDO Orlando B. Tizon and the IPOPHL, said activity equipped participants with essential knowledge in ensuring that unique creations of Mindoreños are properly credited and legally protected under the laws of intellectual property.

Sessions covered patents, utility models, industrial designs, trademarks, copyrights, geographical indications and registration procedures.

Said intellectual property measures grant Mindoreños rights over their inventions, design, products, or brands.

Representatives from the Provincial Agriculturist’s Office, National Government Agencies, lower LGUs, Micro,Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), farmers and other food producers, students and teachers from secondary schools attended and benefitted from said activity.
