10 March 2026, Calapan City – A total of 266 workers of Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers (TUPAD) from four municipalities in the province gained new skills in crop production and biodegradable recycling through the free government agricultural training.
Through the Provincial Public Employment Service Office (PPESO) led by PGDH-PPESO Antonio S. Magnaye, Jr., in partnership with the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), said activity was conducted and focused on the theme ‘Training Cum Production on Agricultural Crop Production and Biodegradable Recycling.’
Underemployed, self-employed, and displaced workers from Gloria, Pinamalayan, Calapan City and Puerto Galera were given with temporary employment that also provides them free training on effective techniques for planting and raising crops, proper soil preparation, and ways to increase agricultural production.
Participants also learned sustainable farming practices through biodegradable recycling of decomposable waste such as leaves, plant residues, and other organic materials that can be transformed into compost or fertilizer for a healthier plant growth.
Other Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) trainings such as Masonry NC II and Housekeeping are also offered for the TUPAD workers.
Said initiative enhances the employability of vulnerable workers in the province by helping them gain new skills for long-term employment opportunities in the future.
