The Provincial Government of Oriental Mindoro (PGOM), under the leadership of Governor Humerlito “Bonz” A. Dolor, continues its active support in Fresh Prawn (Ulang) Farming for cooperatives and associations in the province through the conduct of area validation of said project on 8 January 2026.
Led by the Provincial Cooperative Development Office (PCDO), under the leadership of PCDO Officer Orlando B. Tizon, the validation was conducted in different pond areas prepared by Salika Agriculture Cooperative, San Juan Rural Improvement Club, Victoria Operators, Drivers and Commuters Transport Cooperative (VODACTCO), Quinabigan Animal Raisers Association (QARA), Angat Mindoro Agriculture Cooperative (AMACO), and Namalayan Farmers Agriculture Cooperative (NAMFACO).
Said cooperatives attended PCDO’s Fresh Prawn Farming training last 08 October, 2025.
PCDO also ensured the availability of supply of inputs for the project, including the procurement of “ulang” fingerlings from Dagupan City with the help of Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources MIMAROPA (BFAR).
In partnership with BFAR MIMAROPA and the Provincial Agriculturist’s Office (PAgO), PGOM aims to promote fresh prawn farming as an alternative livelihood with high income potential and long-term development for cooperatives and associations in Oriental Mindoro.
