More than Php 59.8 million worth of combined assistance from the Provincial Government of Oriental Mindoro, Department of Agriculture (DA), and Philippine Center for Postharvest Development and Mechanization (PhilMech) was awarded to local farmers and fisherfolk during the Farmers and Fisherfolk’s Day on 10 December 2025.
Over Php 27 million came from the Provincial Government under the administration of Governor Bonz Dolor. Funds are allocated for various agricultural programs including farm mechanization, post-harvest facilities, production support, and other initiatives aimed at increasing yield, reducing production costs, and expanding livelihood opportunities for 326 members of Farmers’ Cooperatives and Associations (FCAs).
“We work hard to provide what you need… You can count on having a governor whose number one priority is the agriculture sector” said Governor Dolor.
PhilMech continues to work closely with the Provincial Government in delivering modern machinery and facilities to improve farm efficiency. DA ensures the continuous rollout of aid, technical training, and programs that aim to strengthen local food production.
The Sangguniang Panlalawigan, led by Vice Governor Antonio Perez Jr. With Sangguniang Panlalawigan Board Members Atty. Fay Ilano-Navarro, Alely Casubuan-Tan, Ryan Arago, and Atty. Jom Dimapilis, expressed full support for the initiative. Vice Gov. Perez noted, “PGOM values the fisherfolk and farming sectors. I know this will greatly help all of you, and we in the SP will continue searching for solutions to your concerns.”
Mayor Richard Inciong and Provincial Agriculturist Christine Pine welcomed the farmers, fisherfolk, and guests, commending the Capitol for successfully delivering the assistance, an effort that also coincides with the birthday celebration of Governor Dolor.
Representatives of the farmer groups expressed gratitude and recognized the significant efforts of the Provincial Government through the Provincial Agriculture Office, PhilMech, and the DA.
