2025  Joint Regional and Provincial 18-Day Campaign to End  VAW, kicks off

The 2025 Joint Regional and Provincial 18-Day Campaign to End Violence Against Women (VAW) officially kicked off on 04 December at the  Oriental Mindoro Heritage Museum.  

Through the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO) and the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD)–MIMAROPA, said activity supported the advocacy to end any form of gender-violence.

DSWD-MIMAROPA Focal Person on Women Merimelinda Leuterio emphasized the importance of ending VAW,  not only in Oriental Mindoro but throughout the MIMAROPA region for the provision of a more  secure environment for women and equal opportunities for everyone.

Various Local Government Units (LGUs) in the province also reported the composition of the Local Council Against Trafficking (LCAT)-VAWC members in their municipalities and the formulation of their plans for the coming year.

LCAT-VAWC and the Provincial Government’s Gender and Development (GAD) plan were also presented. 

A candle lighting ceremony was also conducted during the activity, symbolizing support for said campaign and as a gesture of solidarity for World AIDS Day.

Representatives from the LGUs,  Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office (MSWDO), Civil Society Organizations (CSOs), Municipal Health Offices (MHOs), Women and Children Protection Desk of the Philippine National police (PNP), Office of the Provincial Prosecutor, and the members of the  Provincial GAD Focal Point System– Technical Working Group (PGFPS-TWG) attended the event.
