CIGFI Rythm Ensemble of San Teodoro Central School emerged as the champion in the
Tunog Mindoro Drums and Glockenspiel Band Competition held at the Oriental Mindoro
National Highschool.
The event was one of the major highlights of the 75th Founding Anniversary celebration of Oriental Mindoro. As the grand winner, the team received from the Provincial Government a trophy and Php 500,000 in cash, and an additional Php 200,000 intended for the procurement band equipment.
Governor Humerlito “Bonz” A. Dolor and Vice Governor “CA Jojo” S. Perez Jr. Jointly
awarded the prizes. The group also received a Php 10,000 voucher from Jolly Waves Water Park and Resort Calapan.
A total of 10 participating groups from both public and private schools across the province delivered vibrant and energetic performances throughout the competition.
Securing second place was the Old Town Pride Drums and Glockenspiel Band of
Lumangbayan Elementary School, also form San Teodoro. They received Php 300,000 and were likewise named Most Disciplined Group, earning an additional Php 30,000 and a Php 7,000 voucher from Jolly Waves.
Meanwhile, the Harmonic Blazers of Magdalena Suyom Memorial School from Bongabong took third place and were awarded Php 200,000 plus Php 5,000 voucher. The Harmony Band of Pakyas Elementary School in Victoria won Best Color Guard and Best in Uniform, receiving Php 60,000. Non-winning groups each received Php 50,000 participation incentive plus an additional Php 20,000.
More than just a contest, the event aimed to inspire young Mindorenos to pursue and
develop their talents in music and the arts, important pillars of the province’s cultural
identity and honor Oriental Mindoro’s rich culture, strong community spirit, and its
remarkable 75 year journey towards progress.
