A total of 105 distinguished individuals from Oriental Mindoro were honored at the Gabi ng Pagpupugay: Ang 75 Simbolo ng Natatanging Anak ng Oriental Mindoro on 12 November at the Balai Mindoro Event Center, Calapan City.
Gabi ng Pagpupugay is one of the featured activities in the historic 75th anniversary of Oriental Mindoro, aiming to recognize the Mindoreños who served as models of excellence, inspiration, and compassion for the next generation.
Governor Humerlito “Bonz” A. Dolor emphasized that the 75th year of Oriental Mindoro is a celebration of blessings and unity of Mindoreños, and that the awards night symbolized love and tribute to individuals who contributed to their communities and to the entire province.
Vice Governor Antonio “Jojo” Perez, Jr. also expressed his gratitude to former officials, awardees, their families, Provincial Government department heads, and everyone who contributed to the success of the program.
University of Santo Tomas Symphony Orchestra gave a special performance at the beginning of the event that added further prestige to the awards night.
Gov. Dolor along with First Lady Hiyas Govinda Dolor, Vice Gov. Perez and his spouse, and members of the 12th Sangguniang Panlalawigan awarded the 30 pillars of Oriental Mindoro- leaders who promoted the province’s development since it was established.
Meanwhile, the 75 Simbolo ng Natatanging Anak ng Oriental Mindoro was divided into four (4) categories:
In the Mangyan category, 22 distinguished individuals who demonstrated exceptional dedication and achieved success in their respective fields, contributed to the development of their communities, and served as a positive inspiration to their peers were awarded;
In theHalcon Category 24 honorees were awarded for their exceptional skills and excellence in promoting various fields – culture, arts, science, medicine, business, and education;
In the Tamaraw Category, 14 exemplary citizens who sacrificed their time, energy, and intellect for the welfare of others through advocacy, volunteerism, and humanitarian service were honored; and
In the Naujan Lake Category , 15 posthumous awards were conferred as symbols of heartfelt gratitude and tribute to the memory of notable Mindoreños who left a significant legacy in their community and the province during their lifetime.
