Naujan East District clinched the overall champion title in the Kasaysay Fest: History Challenge, receiving a trophy and Php60,000.00 cash prize at the Punzalan Gymnasium, Pinamalayan.
Calapan South District also won second place receiving Php40,000.00, while Calapan West District as third place with Php30,000.00.
A total of eighty-six (86) students (Grade III, Grade VI, Grade X, and Grade XII) competed in the said event from the 21 districts of the Department of Education (DepEd) Oriental Mindoro and Calapan City Divisions.
Questions were divided into three categories: easy, average, and difficult rounds.
In the individual category, Paul Adrielle W. Maramot of Maria Loreto Integrated SFI of Pinamalayan East won in Grade III and received Php6,000.00, Gab Aidan T. Gozar of Victoria Central School received Php4,000.00 as second placer, while Adrian I. Macandong of Calubayan Elementary School from Socorro District was third placer receiving Php2,000.00.
Maya Isabelle A. Cayabyab of Juan Morente Sr. MPS in Pinamalayan East won as champion in Grade VI category, Camille Joy Q. De Chavez of Camilmil Central School of Calapan South as second placer, and Lara M. Santoc of Magdalena Umali Suyon Elementary School of Bongabong South as third placer.
In Grade X category, Mikaella A. Pakabis of Puerto Galera Academy, Inc. was named champion, followed by April T. Asilo of Apitong National High School in Naujan East as second place, and Daizkie John Jong Kanagawa of Oriental Mindoro National High School in Calapan West a third placer.
In Grade XII, Ezekiel Agarap of Nabuslot National High School of Pinamalayan West won the championship title, Jeru Gift S. Atienza of Naujan Municipal High School as second placer and Melody F. Celis of San Mariano National High School in Roxas District as third placer.
Governor Bonz Dolor gave additional prizes to the students as an added support to their studies.
Vice-Governor Jojo Perez, SP Board Members Jean Paulo Umali, Lagtum Pasag, and Roland Ruga also attended the event.
Kasaysay Fest led by the Provincial Public Employment Service Office (PPESO) was one of the featured activities in the celebration of Fiesta Mahal Tana: The 75th Araw ng Oriental Mindoro aiming to instill the minds of the youth with appreciation for the province’s rich history and Mindoreño culture, while also honing their skills in the field of academics.
