Governor Humerlito “Bonz” A. Dolor and Vice Governor Antonio CA “Jojo” Perez led the unveiling of Governor Ignacio Monument, and the launching ceremony of newly Choreographed Lights and Dancing Fountain at Plaza del Gobernador on 23  October.

Through the efforts of the Provincial Government of Oriental Mindoro (PGOM), a statue of Governor Arturo A. Ignacio was installed at Plaza del Gobernador in recognition of his honest leadership, excellent governance, and sincere service during his tenure as Governor from 1928 to 1947 (four terms).

Gov. Dolor, expressed his gratitude to the Gov. Arturo Arce Ignacio Sr. Foundation Incorporation Inc., headed by former Gov. Benjamin “Chippy” Espiritu for donating the statue, qouting the famous saying, “Ang hindi marunong lumingon sa pinanggalingan ay hindi nakararating sa paroroonan”, which emphasized the importance of remembering the province’s past leaders.

A wreath-laying ceremony was conducted after the unveiling as a mark of respect and tribute to the late leader of Oriental Mindoro.

Meanwhile, through the creativity of the Provincial Tourism Office under the leadership of Dr. Dhon Stepherson Calda, Plaza Del Gobernador fountain has been recalibrated with an enhanced dramatic fusion of lights and water fountain that dance in the rhythm of the official theme song of Fiesta Mahal Tana.

Plaza del Gobernador is currently one of the most visited attractions in the City of Calapan—not only by local residents but also by tourists from various parts of the province.

Dancing fountain show is free and  open to the public every evening from 7:00 to 7:30 PM, where everyone can witness the captivating combination of lights, music, and water movements that can bring delight to every visitor.
