DSWD Distributes Over ₱ 3.9 Million in Housing Assistance to Families Affected byTyphoon Opong

Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), in
partnership with the Provincial Government of Oriental Mindoro and City Government of
Calapan. Over ₱3.9 million in housing cash assistance to families affected by Typhoon Opong in
the municipality of Naujan and Calapan City were distributed by DSWD.

This initiative was made possible through the efforts of Governor Bonz Dolor, who coordinated
with the National Government to ensure the immediate release of financial assistance to families
who lost or sustained damaged to their homes due to the recent calamity.

In Naujan, a total of 323 families from 27 barangays received housing assistance amounting to
over ₱ 1.8 million.

Meanwhile, in Calapan City, 582 families from 33 barangays received a total of more than ₱2.1
million in housing aid.
According to DSWD, the amount of assistance given was computed based on the extent of
damage to each house whether partially or totally damaged, following the agency’s Disaster
Response Operations Procedure, (DROP).

Governor Bonz Dolor reaffirmed the Provincial Government’s commitment to continue working
closely with national agencies and concerned stakeholders to ensure the sustained delivery of
programs and services that support people who are affected by calamities.
