PGOM honors Ulirang Nakatatanda Awardees 2025  in OrMin.

The Provincial Government of Oriental Mindoro (PGOM) honored outstanding senior citizens for their great contributions in the community as 2025 Ulirang Nakatatanda of Oriental Mindoro.

Led by the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO) in collaboration with the Office of Special Assistant for Senior Citizens Affairs and other concerned agencies, this yearly program is conducted in line with the celebration of the National Elderly Filipino Week to recognize elderly citizens who excelled in various fields and have contributed immensely to the development of their sector and community. 

A total of 15 participants were nominated for the event, and four of them were recognized as Ulirang Nakatatanda under four distinct categories:

For the Basic Sector Category, Mr. Rodner F. Fruelda  from Pola was honored for his diligence, positive attitude and responsible character not just as a father to his children, but also as a model citizen of Barangay Calima.

Meanwhile, Mrs. Nemia M. Lope from Roxas won the Professional Sector Category for her dedication and professionalism, demonstrating her commitment in the sworn duty.

Atty. Manuel P. Delica, CE, GE, EnP, MPA championed the Government Sector Category for providing an exceptional public service to his fellow citizens in Socorro;

For the Group Category, Bigaan Agriculture Cooperative (BARCO) won first for their resilience and perseverance in further improving their services provided for the community.

Winners received cash prizes and plaques of recognition, while other nominees were granted with consolation cash prizes.

The event also highlighted a Zumba Activity Competition for the elderly citizens, where Zumba Groovers from Gloria  ranked first, followed by groups from Pinamalayan, and Socorro in second and third places, respectively.

Free services were also provided by the Provincial Health Office (PHO) such as Pneumonial Vaccine, Blood Chem, and Urine Screening for the participants.

PSWDO and the Office of Special Assistant for Senior Citizens Affairs led by former Board Member Estela Malapitan also gave free haircut and massage for the senior citizens.

In her message, PSWD Officer Zarah C. Magboo conveyed her sincerest gratitude to the people behind the success of the activity, including evaluators who also received a plaques of recognition.

First lady Hiyas Govinda Ramos-Dolor representing the Governor also delivered her warm greetings and appreciation to the participants and facilitators who contributed greatly on the prestigious event.

The recognition of 2025 Exemplary Elders symbolized the appreciation of PGOM to the elderly citizens who serve as an inspirations to the young generations in making a positive impact in the community.
